Like everyone in this tight-knit industry, we were dismayed to watch so many restaurants around the country have to shut their doors, lay off staff, and make sudden and difficult sacrifices in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In April and May, we had the distinct privilege of contributing a portion of profits to the James Beard Restaurant Relief Fund, which raised more than $4 million for independent restaurants to support payrolls, pay rent, and more. More than 250 small businesses across the country received $15,000 cash grants to help get back on their feet.
But the work isn’t done. As we continue to imagine a brighter future for the restaurant industry, we’re proud to voice our support for the James Beard Foundation’s Open for Good campaign. The campaign seeks to develop a network of resources, advocacy, and financial support to help build a stronger, more equitable, and more resilient independent restaurant industry.
Until September 1st, Matfer Bourgeat USA will donate 1% of profits across our entire catalog to the Open For Good campaign.
